About Me

Hello! My name is Dan Klumper and I am happy to meet you. Thank you for visiting SpearTip Education. Allow me to introduce myself. I am originally from Worthington, MN. I grew up on a farm a couple miles outside of town with my Dad (Wayne), Mom (Dea), Sister (Tresse) and Brother (Joe). I graduated from Worthington High School in 2001 and went on to major in History and Secondary Education at Augustana College. I also played football at Augustana as a wide receiver and Team Captain.  After graduating, I took a position teaching 6th grade social studies (ancient world) at Brandon Valley Middle School. I also coached middle school football and basketball during my time there. I served as in-service presenter, book study leader and technology coach as well. I earned a Master's of Technology in Education from Dakota State University in May 2015. Also in May of 2015,  I left Brandon Valley for a new challenge-Instructional Coach for the Sioux Falls School District, working with all the social studies teachers (grades 6-8) in the five Sioux Falls middle schools. After doing that for one year, I moved on to my next challenge in my professional journey as a Social Science instructor at Dakota State University in Madison, SD. I have written four books. Two of the books were written to help my students learn the content and learn how to read/comprehend better: "Johnny Rawten" and the sequel "Ancient Quest" which follows a time-traveling boy throughout the ancient worlds, allowing my students a first-hand experience of what those worlds were all about. My third book, "HEALS: A Story of Tragedy, Miracles, and Love" details a horrific motorcycle accident my dad was in and his journey to recover and make it back home. Check out my author Spotlight here. My fourth book is called "Realm of Dragons" which was written in conjunction with my gamified world, The Realm of Dragons, which provides the history of the Realm and a player's guide.

Personally, my wife Abby and I have three beautiful daughters: Olivia (17), Isabel (14), and Hazel (6). My wife teaches 5th grade in the Brandon Valley School District. During the summers, I teach online courses for DSU. Some of my hobbies include: reading, writing, watching movies, hanging out with my daughters, biking, running, drawing, making videos, and building stuff. I am an extreme fan of the Game of Thrones. I also serve on the Brandon Valley Board of Education.
